Chinese Almond Cookies
ngredients:makes 1 dozen cookies- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour - 3/4 cups cane sugar- 2 Tbsp. dry milk powder - 3/4 tsp. baking powder- 3/4 tsp. salt- 1 tsp. almond extract- 1 egg, wisked (1/2 for dough, 1/2 + a bit of water)- 1/2 cup butter- sliced almonds (for topping)Ready in Total Time: 50 min.Prep Time = 35 min.*Cook Time = 15 min.

Mix in wet ingredients, reserving 1/2 the egg for an egg wash3. Freeze or refrigerate the dough in plastic wrap until chilled and firmness is like butter 4. Divide into 12 equal pieces and roll into a ball. Push each ball down with the palm of your hand, then using a fork press gently to make a criss-cross indentation. 5. With the remaining 1/2 of the egg, add a splash of water or milk to make an egg wash and using a pastry brush, lightly coat the tops of each cookie. 6. Top with sliced almonds7. Bake in a pre-heated oven @ 350F degrees for 10 - 15 minutes, or until golden brown8. Let the cookies cool on a rack before serving
